Lakeside Livin'

Day three of vacation with extended family (including mom, dad, sister, niece, nephew, and their yellow lab) on Lake Louisa, Va. Have settled into a comfortable routine of sleeping late, big breakfast, chaotic multiple-children fishing from the dock, lunch, pulling kids on triple-wide inner-tube thingy behind boat and sometimes joining in for extra weight/bounce, afternoons playing on sandy wading beach, dinner, dusk fishing with dad, late night card games. Season liberally with naps in hammocks, snacks, tire-swing pushing, other yard games that involve throwing or chasing things. Tomorrow's big plan: getting the canoe in the water.

There are worse things.

Whoo hoo!! Where is Lake Louisa? Are you going to come through NoVA on your way home? If so, I'd love to see if we can meet for coffee or something as I haven't seen you since we left JMU.

Got fireflies? I really miss them.

A few fireflies, yes, but we have not gone out to chase them with the kids. Also, tiger mosquitos, active all day and night. Our children do not understand this "you have to close the door all the time" thing, since we have few invasive critters in the suburbs.

and and and! Nina and I saw a bald eagle from the canoe today! I know, you have them roosting 20 feet from your house, but I've never seen one in Virginia before.

Tonight, if it's clear, we're going to keep the kids up and starwatch. Well, one of them, anyway, and Calvin if he's not too tired.

Rose demanded to go fishin' with grandpa today and caught three bluegill :)
