From the bay bridge this morning, on the AC transit bus, you can see, maybe 100 feet in any direction. Treasure Island is invisible, even as we pull into the tunnel. You can't see down to the water.

It's as though, instead of a cloud coming down to earth, the bridge was suddenly lifted 30,000 feet in the air.

Neat.

I lived in a Tuscan hilltop village for 14 months. Every morning, a fog came up from the Valdichiana (Chianti Valley) and obscured the entire valley. Felt like I had woken up IN THE SKY.

As the fog (nebbia in Italian) rose, it would creep through the medieval streets of the town on little gatto feet ...

I miss it.

I freaking love the fog. This afternoon I watched as it receded to a thick marine layer hovering just at the coastline's edge, then the back of it burned off and it became a fog necklace hugging the shore, and now a larger, darker, higher layer is advancing to swallow us up again. It is so fun to watch this all happen over a matter of hours from my living room window.
