When you are indicted for campaign finance abuses that may have helped you unfairly during an election, starting your defensive media posturing with the line "Because they couldn't beat me at the ballot box..." is in exceedingly poor taste. What, you thought we wouldn't notice? That's the kind of arrogance that led to you getting busted in the first place, idiot.

Idiot? Hardly.

This is all part of a plan to stir up enough publicity to taint any jury in Travis County (Austin). Once that happens, his trial will be moved to a more rural and sympathetic venue.

I've seen this guy get out of tighter corners, and I'm willing to put cash on him walking.

Oy, my head.

I think you are both right. DeLay is an idiot for wasting our time and resources by pretending to be a public servant, when in reality he's just another tick sucking the life out of our communities. But now that you mention it, askesis, I'm sure he and his advisors know exactly what he's doing. Makes me ask my time honored question:

When do I get to throw up?

Then I always remember that I hate to throw up.

On Orkut one of the Russian ex-patriates living in Brazil started telling us all about his great plan to invade Texas. This is part of his schtick. We had fun him. He pretended to be dippy and clueless, and we ran in and explained that it's a doomed situation. That he should just sip sugary umbrella drinks with his beautiful wife, watching young women in thongs all day.

Of course, Brazilian politics is so bad that invading Texas might seem sane to him. I just thought of that right now, and realizing that is a little weird. I might have some trouble sleeping tonight. I think I'll be sleeping with the plush bears. All of them.

Tomorrow I will be hammering wood. Lots of hammering.

He may yet walk, but today's news sure didn't sound promising. I love the rationale; I guess "resigning to spend some quality time with his upcoming legal defense" just didn't play well in Peoria.
