unclear on the concept
Jul. 26th, 2004 10:36 amSo the MoveOn ppl are releasing a nice little political soundtrack album with cuts from Tom Waits, David Byrne, TMBG, REM, etc. The title of the album is _Future Soundtrack for America_. That sounds all well and good, right? Except here are a few of the tracks:
This is the future? If that's the content you want, then you picked the worst possible title, you ignorant, well-meaning, dorks. On the positive side, this album contains a Flaming Lips song named "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots", plus cover of John Prine's "Sam Stone". Anything that brings "Sam Stone" back into regular play can't be all bad. But JESUS people, could you at least get your two remaining brain cells into the same room once and a while? Also, please see the recent clues from your preferred candidate and party, the all-negative "we're not Bush!" ad rhetoric is going nowhere; you lot need to come up with an optomistic message. No, a real one, not GWB's "I'm very optimistic about the US because I say I am, whoops, terror warning!" bullshit.
- Fountains of Wayne "Everything's Ruined"
- Sleater Kinney "Off with your head"
- Ben Kweller "Jerry Falwell Destroyed Earth"
- Jimmy Eat World "Game of Pricks (BBC evening session)"
