For a while, in the early days of Bush II, I tried to console myself that, if we had to have Evil Lizards in charge of the country, at least we had knowing, clever, ultra-competent Evil Lizards who were brilliant at exploiting the world to fulfill their greed, Lizards who had a Master Plan that would pull all the Big Strings masterfully.
Words cannot express how genuinely disappointed I have become, over the past year, to find out that our current Lizards are not only Evil, they are, in fact, not particularly good at pulling the world's strings. They aren't brilliant and all-knowing. They're not actually all that compentent. They're just greedy and shameless in that way that assholes who realize they've been caught doing unacceptable things act-- that blustery way of turning around and acting like it's the OTHER person's fault that your BMW just backed over their child.
