Today is the day when otherwise rational and intelligent cow-orkers have decided to universally fail common spelling choice tests for things like "lose/loose", "allude/elude", "wave/waive", "herd/heard"...it's an endless barrage.
I am beginning to suspect that you have to read books to reinforce standard usage. If you don't, the ambient laziness seeps into your brain and ties the shoelaces of your internal editor together.
If your peers are mostly reading blogs, manuals, and webpages, they are not exposed to enough correct spelling.
