dweniusThe `65 Fender Bassman amp I played through last night was, without close comparison, the sweetest amplifier tone I have ever had at my fingertips, only 15 times too loud. I had to crank it down so low, it didn't quite sing, but DAMN. Ok, now I know what people are talking about when they say "that Fender clean tone." Like a trumpet made out of some liquified, clear gemstone. It goes on the short list of things that make me play better by their tone alone. That is, it sounded so good, I altered my playing style in good ways to take advantage of the sweet spots. Yummy, but wholly impractical. Sigh.
