Elwood conquers the outdoors, update.
Jan. 12th, 2004 04:50 pmAs previously reported, Elwood is an outdoor cat now. We usually let him out the back door, at the bottom of the stairs. The backyard is more interesting, after all, with more wildlife and other attractions for the foraging predator. When he wants to come in, he talks to us through the back door. Simple. After about a week, he figured out that if we didn't answer the back door, then we must not be near the back of the house. However, he could walk around to the front door and ask to be let in there. When this worked, I think we were all equally pleased.
This weekend, however, his natural cat laziness kicked in and he discovered a third option. Now, if we don't answer the back door, he goes to the side of the house; if he hears our voices coming out of the kitchen window, he stops and hollers at us from there rather than coming all the way around to the front door.
