Bizarro world...

According to news reports, the two primary candidates to run the World Bank are Carly Fiorina and Bono.

And before them, the hot name was Paul Wolfowitz.

That's some mighty fine crack they're smoking at the World Bank.

actually the World Bank itself has nothing to do with it.

the post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A12640-2005Mar6.html?nav=rss_opinion/opeds) is saying that basically the appointment to head it usually comes straight from the White House (who never has a clue in any administration of what to do with it), mostly because...well...i don't know (it didn't say), but for some reason the Europeans rarely organize around an alternative candidate, so the appointed American leads it every time.

so its as clear as mud, no?

i'd say no wonder they protest in the streets of DC every september, except i'm pretty sure those kids out there really have no idea what they're protesting, specifically.

not so bizarre

After six or more years of near-constant involvement with the issue of odious debt, Bono is an excellent choice. He's easy to hate, but he actually knows more about the issue than you, me, or most macroeconomists. Unfortunately, he's not really in the running at all - he's just the LA Times tongue-in-cheek pick. The World Bank will never be run by anyone who seeks debt forgiveness.

especially if its picked by this administration, who's supporting the current bills that would eliminate chapter 7 protections *even in the case of medical debts* for individuals as a handout to the credit card companies (who screwed themselves over in getting things to this state in the first place).

corporatism run rampant.

and its going to get worse, 'cause democrat OR republican, they still cow to the corporations (consider Democrats signed on for DMCA and a supposedly liberal Supreme Court approved the bogus Sonny Bono Copyright Extension crapola).
