Based on yesterday's Tom DeLay story, I'm pondering a line of left-leaning propaganda that uses the symbolism, catchphrases, and imagery of the Right against them. I do not do this with the expectation that this is an original idea, nor that it will allow me to retire on my riches.

That said, I'm curious; how many of you would be interested in a poster/t-shirt/bumper sticker with any of the following on it:

  • WMD are a theory, not a fact. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered

  • Compassionate Conservatism is a theory, not a fact. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered

  • ...other ideas? Something about budget surpluses? Oil reserves?

Then the flagship product, the "Jesus Said" line:

  • Jesus said: "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full." (Matthew 6:5)

  • Jesus said: "Judge not, lest ye be judged" (Mathew 7:1)

  • Jesus said: "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." (Matthew 7:5) -- maybe an alternate version with a picture of Bush or Cheney or Rumsfeld.

  • Jesus Said: "Ye cannot serve God and mammon."(Luke 16:13) - Picture of Bush and Ken Lay? Picture of Bush doing fundraising at a church? Tricky...
  • Jesus said: "The kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21) --Plus an alternate version with something comically obscene on the back of the shirt, Mapplethorpe with the bullwhip perhaps.

  • Jesus said: "Make not my Father's house an house of merchandise." (John 2:16) -- Pictures of televangelists? Picture of Bush doing fundraising in a church?

  • Jesus Wept (John 11:35) -- Must do several versions of this one. One with a picture of Bush, one with a picture of flag-draped caskets, etc.
