Nov. 12th, 2004 12:33 pmWell, they're sure not wasting time, are they? From various sources:
Dig in people, it's going to be a long four years.
- Tanks show up at an L.A. anti-war protest. Unlike Tiananmen Square, no ugly outcome, but does it FREAK YOU OUT that they sent the MARINES to handle a peaceful protest?
- "Courts are not equipped to execute the law" -- John Ashcroft He later commented that whole balance-of-powers thing is a worthless throwback to a forgotten time that, curiously, his chosen political party likes to lionize.
- Conservative groups are unhappy with Gonzales as AG. Just so we're clear on where these people stand: torture is dandy, the Geneva Convention is "quaint", but affirmative action is RIGHT OUT.
- Cro-magnon windbag Steve Darnell shills for Bush in PRAVDA of all places. It's a worthless bunch of name-calling, typical un-rhetoric from a graceless bastard, but getting it out so baldly in front of a huge Russian audience, well, that takes almost as much cojones as...as...as deploying tanks in L.A.
- And finally, some people are Not at all sorry, although a much larger number of people are Very goddamn sorry indeed. Re: the latter, the meme of the forgiving Brazilians is very cute, and very welcome.
