Small treasures, part 2
Dec. 11th, 2003 02:41 pmOver the weekend, we went to see _Alegria_, one of the currently-touring manifestations of the Cirque du Soleil. It has its moments, although on the whole I was much more amazed by _Quidam_ a few years ago. That could be "first Cirque" syndrome?
I liked the trampoline aerialists, and the boneless contortionist woman, and the fellow doing hand balancing had a few mind-boggling moments, but I must say that the absolute best part of the show was watching Calvin learn how to clap. Or try to. Or at least, flail his hands in the general direction of each other every time the rest of the crowd clapped.
Now, at home, he claps in several different ways. My favorite is when he slaps the outside of both of his thighs while making a baby dinosaur/panicked rooster/supersonic ghoul kind of noise. He can amuse himself this way for minutes on end!
